Description
Do you sometimes find it difficult to manage stress and anxiety, or experience peace in a world of constant distractions? We will explore the foundational teachings on mindfulness in a 5-week course. The course will provide instructions for meditation to develop mindfulness while emphasizing application of these practices to challenges and problems in our daily lives.
The topics for each of the five weeks include:
- The Good Life – Understanding How Buddhist Ethics Set the Framework for a Wholesome Meditation Practice
- Cultivating Mindfulness of the Breath and Body – All Day Every Day
- Getting Unstuck through Mindfulness of Feelings (Vedana)
- Mindfulness of Mindstates: Attitude is All Important
- What Gets in the Way and What Helps – The Five Hindrances and The Seven Factors of Awakening
The course will provide concrete tools to navigate distractions when they arise, and offer tools to investigate skillfully how these mindfulness practices can transform our inner world as well as how we can relate to and be of service in the world. The course will include talks, guided meditations with instructions, opportunities for sharing of experiences, as well as time for questions and comments. We hope you will join as we navigate the power of mindfulness together.
You are encouraged to attend all five classes as they build upon each other.
Generosity for the Teachers and the IMCR Group
This class is offered on a dana basis (donation basis). There are two ways to practice generosity for this class series:
- Generosity for the teachers: the suggested donation for the teachers is (for all five Sunday classes) is: $30 – $100 (sliding scale).
- Generosity for the IMCR group: we appreciate donations of any amount you feel comfortable and generous giving.
Your donation to the teacher provides support to allow Carolyn and Chan to continue offering these teachings, and your donation to the IMCR group allows the continuation of the IMCR group. Please give as feels appropriate and generous for you. Please delight in your generosity and know that the dharma continues to be offered to you and others through our collective acts of sharing. All are welcome, no donation is required.
