General Description of the Monthly Sunday Sit
This monthly event will be different each time. Sometimes we gather from 3:00 – 4:30 pm at Ekoji for a community sit, reflection and sharing. Sometimes we meet for a half-day retreat from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. At other times we may offer a “Sunday Unplug” day, starting on Zoom in the morning to set our intentions for the day, followed by individual practice at home and closing at Ekoji and on Zoom in the afternoon. How the day will unfold, what themes or topics are being discussed, etc., might be different each Sunday. Below more information about this Sunday’s event. In the list of events on our website is more information on each Sunday’s practice.

This monthly event is a wonderful opportunity to practice meditation, reflect on the Dhamma, receive support from the community, and to be a support for others by offering your presence.

Beginners and experienced meditators are welcome to join. For those new to IMCR we offer an online orientation. Additionally, beginning meditators are encouraged to familiarize themselves with Vipassana (Insight) meditation through the series of videos on this page.

This Sunday’s Event Description
On Sunday November 2nd we will have a “Sunday Unplug” day: an opportunity to deepen our practice and unplug with teacher and sangha support. We disconnect from input to rest and refresh in awareness.

Participants can determine for themselves:

  • The start and stop time- for example: between waking and sleep time, or from 9 AM until 5 PM, or what suits your schedule.
  • Whether to read anything- like books, or not.
  • Whether to maintain noble silence.
  • To sit a number of meditations throughout the day.
  • To go for a (long) mindful walk.

Teacher Support:
A virtual sangha, via Zoom, will be held from 9 AM until 10 AM to check in and to set our intentions. From 3:00 PM until 4:30 PM we will gather again as a sangha – a hybrid gathering, inperson at Ekoji (Richmond) and on Zoom. There will be a dharma talk and meditation offered, as well as time to check in again with one another.

Send us an email to receive the Zoom link. You will receive an auto-reply with the Zoom link – if you haven’t received the auto reply, please check you spam folder.

Generosity for the Teacher and the IMCR Group
There are two ways to practice generosity (dana) for this retreat:

Your donation to the teacher provides support to allow the teacher to continue offering these teachings, and your donation to the IMCR group allows the continuation of the IMCR group. Please give as feels appropriate and generous for you. Please delight in your generosity and know that the dharma continues to be offered to you and others through our collective acts of sharing. All are welcome, no donation is required
